TWELFTH NIGHT: A MUSICAL ADAPTATION

Twelfth Night is a rousing, contemporary musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic romantic comedy about mistaken identity and self-discovery. Featuring an original jazz-funk score by Shaina Taub, this soulful shake-up of the classic play is a collaboration of the Deerfield Academy theater, vocal, dance and orchestra programs.

Summer Experimentory Teacher at Deerfield Academy

In the words of Augusto Boal, “ We must all do theater, to find out who we are, and to discover who we might become.” Self-discovery and ensemble are central to theater as an art form. In this course, we’ll spend ample time building a classroom ensemble, refining personal monologues, and staging group scenes, which will all culminate in a final performance of our work together. Over the course of our three weeks, students will strengthen their public speaking skills, learn how to improvise, and make discoveries with a group of creative, fun peers. Whether you’ve been in countless productions or have never set foot on stage, there is a place for you in this ensemble!

STAGED READINGS AT DEERFIELD ACADEMY

Featuring Deerfield Academy Student Work

Come enjoy the hard work of the Deerfield Fall Playwriting Workshop! These students have been spending all term writing the first draft of their plays with the guidance of faculty member Eve La Puma and are now ready to share them with the Deerfield community. The readings will be followed by a feedback session with the playwright.
